Scorecard shows Republicans trump Democrats on being business friendly
“The legislative thrust of the 111th Congress has been decidedly anti-growth and anti-small business,” the group states, adding, “The legislative and policy environment has not only harmed the bottom line of business owners at a time when our nation can least afford ti, but it continues to chip away at business confidence.”
Votes on health care and Wall Street reform, energy, the stimulus, and legislation that contained tax increases on businesses dominated the legislative agenda and were largely opposed by Republicans.
The SBE Council states that these reform have not only added to businesses tax burden, but have also created uncertainty in the market that have forced these owners to shelve ideas of expansion and hiring.
