Independents siding with GOP on the economy

“Independents’ views of the economy align much more closely with Republicans’ than with Democrats’,” Gallup states. “This suggests a difficult election environment for most incumbents, particularly given the high degree of economic pessimism among independents.”

Forty-three percent of Democrats say the economy is getting worse, compared to 78 percent of Republicans.
