Poll: Voters think healthcare reform will force some to drop coverage

Only 19 percent think it is unlikely that healthcare coverage will be dropped because of the new law.

The poll comes on the heels of the Obama administration announcing that 30 companies and organizations have been granted one-year waivers from certain requirements of the new law. The carve-out includes McDonald’s, which threatened to drop coverage, and the New York City teachers union.

Sixty-four percent of respondents said the carve-out should apply to all businesses. Twenty-one percent said it was better that the carve-out be granted on a case-by-case basis.

The survey tapped the opinions of 1,000 U.S. likely voters between Oct. 10-11 and can be found at www.rasmussenreports.com.
