Cornyn presses for balanced-budget amendment
Cornyn’s bill caps federal spending at 20 percent of gross domestic product, requiring a two-thirds vote in both chambers of Congress to raise taxes.
“I hope Austin keeps the pressure on Washington to bring my balanced budget amendment up for a vote, and then to send it to the states for ratification,” he wrote. “If Congress ignores their concerns, Texas can and should initiate the process by petitioning for a constitutional convention.”
