Former Obama adviser joins US Chamber of Commerce
Jones, who retired from the military in 2007, was tapped by Obama shortly after his election in 2008, and served as a top adviser from January 2009 until November 2010, when he resigned.
Jones previously worked with the Chamber, serving as president and CEO of its Institute for 21st Century Energy from June 2007 until January 2009. There, he worked to develop a strategy and raise awareness for clean, affordable energy.
“I am delighted to be working with the U.S. Chamber again,” said Jones. “This is an organization that makes a difference. I am pleased to serve in an advisory role and help shape its policies and its agenda for American jobs and competitiveness.”
After retiring from the Marine Corps in 2007, Jones served as special envoy for Middle East Security, then chaired the Atlantic Council of the United States, a D.C. think tank, before taking over the national-security post.
