Ways and Means subcommittee to examine tax season
The IRS hearing is now the third the House committee has scheduled for next week, when lawmakers are scheduled to return from a week in their districts. The full Ways and Means panel is set to look into barriers to job creation on Wednesday, while the Trade subcommittee is slated to hold a hearing on the pending trade deal with Panama that same day.
In previous congressional hearings, some Republicans have balked at the White House’s fiscal 2012 funding request for the IRS, which reportedly could bring the agency around 5,000 additional staffers.
