Stimulus point man leaves White House for liberal think tank
Vice President Joe Biden’s economic adviser, Jared Bernstein, will be leaving the White House to join the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities think tank.
{mosads}A liberal voice in the White House, Bernstein has served as a point person on the 2009 stimulus bill whose funds are now mostly paid out.
Bernstein, who had worked at the Economic Policy Institute, follows Christina Romer, Obama’s first Council of Economic Advisers chairwoman, and Obama’s first National Economic Council director, Lawrence Summers, out the door.
“We are very pleased that Jared Bernstein is joining us as a senior
fellow. He brings to the Center a very broad range of skills and deep
expertise on issues that are central to our work, including the living
standards of middle- and lower-income Americans. We have worked closely
with Jared in his various positions over the years, and we look forward
to working with him on a daily basis as he joins the Center,” said CBPP President Robert Greenstein in an emailed statement.
