Kyl says GOP has not drawn line in sand over debt

{mosads}Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) reiterated Tuesday that Senate Republicans want the discussion to be about trillions in cuts, and said the discussion cannot include tax increases.

Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) told reporters he is telling colleagues they should vote against any debt ceiling increase if the spending cuts tied to the bill are not sufficient.

Kyl told The Hill that he did not know what specific subject would come up at the Biden talks later on Tuesday. The talks began last Thursday.

Obama budget director Jack Lew met with Senate Democrats Tuesday and tried to sell them on the need to offer a debt trigger as part of the Biden talks.
