Warren named to Oklahoma Hall of Fame
{mosads}House Republicans are currently pushing a series of bills aimed at reining in the bureau’s power, while nearly ever Senate GOP member has promised to block any nominee to head the agency unless several changes are made to its structure.
That blockade has led some to believe Warren will be appointed by the president to head the agency using his recess powers to skirt the Senate confirmation process. Warren is a longtime favorite of consumer groups, but many believed a tough confirmation battle would discourage the administration from naming her as the CFPB’s first director.
Either way, Warren’s Oklahoma roots may come in handy in Washington as she continues setting up the CFPB. The Oklahoma Heritage Association notes that when Warren attended Northwest Classen High School in Oklahoma City, she was a debate champion.
