Obama will nominate Bryson to lead Commerce
Bryson is a director of Boeing, Walt Disney Co. and Coda Automotive, and also is a senior adviser to Kohlberg Kravis & Roberts, a global asset manager.
He also serves on the United Nations advisory group on energy and climate change, and as co-chairman of the Pacific Council on International Policy.
Bryson has an extensive background in environmental issues, and early in his career was a co-founder of the Natural Resources Defense Council.
Bryson will replace Secretary Gary Locke, who has been nominated as the next ambassador to China.
Obama is set to make the announcement at 1:15 p.m in the Rose Garden.
