Survey: Americans hearing more and more bad news on economy
The percentage of Americans hearing mostly bad news is the most in over two years. The number hearing mixed news, which now stands at one in two, was at 68 percent around six months ago.
Recent weeks have seen consistently disappointing reports on the economy, from the Labor Department’s jobs report for May to a drop in home prices to falls on the stock market.
The pessimistic views about the economy also stretched out across several sectors: Nearly seven in ten were hearing mostly bad news about gas prices, while well over half were hearing the same about the employment market, real estate and food prices.
