Obama threatens to veto House supercommittee bill

{mosads}“The President has been clear that he is open to discussing a broad range of measures to support the Nation’s economy, create jobs, and further reduce the deficit once the Congress meets its responsibility to open the government and pay its bills,” the Statement of Administration Policy reads.

Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) said Tuesday that Obama’s offer for post-crisis negotiations, also outlined in a midday press conference, was unacceptable.

“What the president said today was, if there’s unconditional surrender by Republicans, he’ll sit down and talk to us,” Boehner said in a brief press conference responding to Obama. “That’s not the way America works.”
