Debate grows over fast food wages

A wide range of officials are debating the potential impact of $15 an hour wages for fast food workers, as those workers launch another round of strikes over the matter.

{mosads}Restaurant officials say that high a wage would both decrease employment and raise the price of fast food, The New York Times reports.

Union officials say the pressure from strikes will force the industry to negotiate. And some economists who believe that fast food workers, who currently make an average of around $9 an hour, wonder if $15 hourly wages might be a step too far.
