Gallup: Economic confidence steady
People in the U.S. have a generally negative view of the economy, according to the latest figures from Gallup.
{mosads}The polling company’s economic confidence index came in at -16 for the most recent week, and has remained fairly stable for all of 2014.
The index dropped one point from the previous week, and has toggled between -13 and -20 this year.
According to Gallup, people in the U.S. are equally negative about both the current economic conditions, and where they believe the economy is headed. Gallup averages those two scores for its confidence index.
The polling company’s confidence index had almost broken even last June, amid some improving signs for the economy. But the index then cratered to a low of -39 around October’s government shutdown.
