The number of businesses filing their taxes electronically jumped almost 10 percent this year to more than seven million, the IRS said Thursday.
{mosads}The latest increase means that the IRS now gets twice as many business returns electronically than it did seven years ago, and that roughly seven in 10 business returns are now filed that way.
In all, an additional 600,000 businesses — both corporations and companies that pay taxes through the individual system — filed electronically. Some larger businesses are required to file electronically, but the IRS said it’s also seeing more electronic filing out of companies that aren’t.
