Key House Republican misses vote
A key Republican was a no-show at a House vote on a $1.1 trillion government spending package on Thursday.
{mosads}House Financial Services Committee Chairman Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas) missed the vote due to a family emergency, Hensarling spokeswoman Sarah Rozier told The Hill.
“Chairman Hensarling had a family emergency that forced him to return to Texas unexpectedly this morning,” Rozier said.
The House narrowly advanced the spending plan, which would fund the government through next fall.
The government is facing a Friday shutdown deadline.
