Hensarling says there’s an investigation into Fed leak: report
Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas.), the chairman of the House Financial Services, said that there is an investigation into a leak of controversial information from a Federal Reserve meeting that was eventually published in a policy newsletter.
Bloomberg News reported Hersarling said the Federal Reserve’s inspector general has an open criminal investigation into the leak.
{mosads}Bloomberg previously discovered that Medley Global Advisors published sensitive information in a newsletter ahead of the public release of minutes from the Federal Open Market Committee’s September 2012 meeting.
The financial sector anxiously awaits the publication of those meetings, as they help provide insights into the thinking of some of the government’s most important fiscal policy minds.
Financial experts and reporters have carefully poured over the minutes for years to glean insights on potential policy changes such as interest rate hikes.
Hensarling sent a letter Friday to Federal Reserve Chairwoman Janet Yelen and the Fed’s Inspector General about the leak, Bloomberg reported.
