Warren Buffett backs Trump on taxes

Billionaire investor Warren Buffett said Tuesday he agrees with Donald Trump’s stance on tax policy.

Buffett, the chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, said he supports raising taxes on wealthier Americans and treating carried interest as income, both ideas expressed by the Republican front-runner, who is expected to provide more details on the economic plan in the coming weeks.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if I agree with quite a bit of his economic program,” Buffett told Bloomberg Television.

“I have, in terms of tax policy, I haven’t heard him say anything yet that I disagree with,” Buffett said.

Earlier Tuesday, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) also said she shares a similar view on taxes with Trump.

“Donald Trump and I both agree that there ought to be more taxation of the billionaires, the people who are making their money on Wall Street,” Warren said on ABC’s “The View.”

Buffett also said that while Hillary Clinton has handled poorly questions surrounding her use of a private email server while secretary of State, she would still make a good president.

“I believe that she has a vision for America that’s very similar to mine in terms of everybody included in the prosperity we enjoy,” Buffett said.

“And I think that she would work very, very hard at getting policies implemented that would lead to that,” he said.

“So that’s what really counts. I have made so many mistakes. Unless we’re going to put on a four-hour special, we’re not going to get to them all.”

Clinton said in a Tuesday interview that she was “sorry” for using the private server.

“That was a mistake. I’m sorry about that. I take responsibility, and I’m trying to be as transparent as I possibly can,” Clinton told ABC News’s David Muir.
