GOP won’t consider Obama’s final budget

The House and Senate Budget committees have decided they won’t hold a hearing on the final budget of President Obama’s tenure in the White House.

Senate Budget Committee Chairman Mike Enzi (R-Wyo.) and House Budget Committee Chairman Tom Price (R-Ga.) on Thursday said they will skip hearings with Shaun Donovan, the White House’s budget director, to review the president’s fiscal 2017 budget. 

{mosads}The White House will unveil its latest budget blueprint on Tuesday.

“It appears the president’s final budget will continue to focus on new spending proposals instead of confronting our government’s massive overspending and debt,” Enzi said.  

“Instead of hearing from an administration unconcerned with our $19 trillion in debt, we should focus on how to reform America’s broken budget process and restore the trust of hardworking taxpayers,” Enzi said. 

The House and Senate panels each held hearings last year.  

“Rather than spend time on a proposal that, if anything like this administration’s previous budgets, will double down on the same failed policies that have led to the worst economic recovery in modern times, Congress should continue our work on building a budget that balances and that will foster a healthy economy,” Price said.
