Goolsbee will join economics firm Analysis Group

A former Obama administration economist is joining Analysis Group, one of the largest economics consulting firms in North America.

Austan Goolsbee, former chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers and formerly the youngest member of President Obama’s Cabinet, will join the economic firm as an academic affiliate.

“We have worked with Dr. Goolsbee on a number of important cases and we are thrilled that he has chosen to affiliate with us,” said Martha Samuelson, president and CEO of Analysis Group.

“His experience with economic policy issues deepens the expertise we offer our clients, and he brings a unique perspective on the role of the government and other competitive dynamics that determine the course of business, technology and innovation,” Samuelson said.

He left his White House job in June 2011 to return to teaching economics at the University of Chicago.

“I have great respect for Analysis Group,” Goolsbee said. “They have earned their reputation for sound economic analysis across a wide range of cases and research. I am excited to affiliate with them.”

Goolsbee served as an economic advisor for the president’s 2004 Senate campaign and played a similar roll during Obama’s 2008 presidential run.

He also serves on the economic advisory panel to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, is a member of the U.S. Commerce Department’s Digital Economy Board of Advisors and is a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research.
