Cincinnati Dems defend city from IRS scandal

{mosads}Lawmakers are continuing to spar over who came up with the plan to target Tea Party groups applying for a tax exemption for added scrutiny. Republicans insist that the idea must have come from higher officials out of Washington, that low-level employees in a regional office would not take on such a policy independently. Meanwhile, Democrats contend that there is no evidence of such a D.C. mandate.

But the Democratic politicians from the city argue the scandal is giving their hometown a bad name and being painted as “a hotbed of rogue, corrupt IRS employees.”

They called on Congress to conduct a complete investigation, confident that doing so would exonerate the city.

“We expect the result [to] put the blame squarely where it belongs, and in so doing, clear Cincinnati’s good name and reputation,” they wrote.
