Second IRS furlough day scheduled for Friday

{mosads}Several congressional committees are investigating the agency, as is the Justice Department. The IRS has also faced criticism in recent weeks for a 2010 conference in California that cost more than $4 million.

Sequestration, which went into effect at the beginning of March, lops off around $80 billion in federal spending this fiscal year. Both Republicans and Democrats have said they want to replace the cuts, but have made little progress on a deal. The two sides have also been debating the severity of the nation’s broader fiscal picture.
