Cummings to Issa: Slow down on 5th Amendment proceedings

{mosads}Lerner, a key figure in the current IRS targeting controversy, defended her actions before invoking the Fifth Amendment, leading some Republicans on the panel to say those rights were no longer applicable. Issa himself has also said he believes Lerner waived her rights.

If the committee agrees, Lerner could be brought back before the committee to face more questioning. Cummings, in his letter to Issa, cites several experts who say they don’t believe Lerner waived her rights. The Maryland Democrat said the same thing following the May 22 hearing.
