IRS: Our employees didn’t wrongly access tax records

George did not specify whether it was an IRS employee, another federal employee or a state employee that wrongly accessed the records.

{mosads}In a statement, an IRS spokesman says the agency “understands” that it wasn’t one of their employees.

“The IRS stresses that audits and collection actions are based on the information related to the tax return and the underlying tax law – nothing else. Audits and collections are handled by career, non-partisan civil servants, and the IRS has safeguards in place to protect the exam and collection process,” the spokesman added.

“Under federal law, we cannot comment we cannot discuss specifics of any taxpayer cases.”
