Just hours before President-elect Donald Trump is inaugurated, the Treasury Department sent out a notice naming acting Under Secretary Adam Szubin as acting Treasury secretary, effective Friday.
The move is “to ensure the smooth continuity of leadership at the Department of the Treasury,” according a statement.
{mosads}Szubin will serve in that role until Steve Mnuchin, Trump’s pick to lead the department, is confirmed and in place.
Mnuchin faced pointed questions from the Senate at his confirmation hearing earlier Thursday but is expected to be confirmed.
