Fed gives big banks $440M tab to cover increased regulations

{mosads}Financial companies will be required to pay the 2012 fee by Dec. 15, and will learn what specifically each must pay by October — larger institutions will have to cover more of the cost than smaller ones.

Going forward, banks will be required to pay the fee by Sept. 15, at which point the Fed will transfer the fees to the Treasury Department (the Fed remits all surplus revenue to the Treasury after covering its own operation costs).
