Obama briefed on Nasdaq disruption while on bus tour
White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough met with the president about the disruption, which closed the Nasdaq market for three hours, according to spokesman Josh Earnest.
Obama is in the midst of a two-day bus tour, and is traveling to Syracuse for a speech on higher education affordability.
{mosads}The market reopened at 3:25 p.m. Eastern after trading was shut down when the exchange reported a problem distributing stock price quotes.
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission said earlier it was monitoring efforts to get the nation’s second-largest stock exchange back online. The Nasdaq lists around 3,200 different shares.
