GOP, government groups have spent $16.1M at Trump Org properties since his campaign started: report

At least $16.1 million has been spent by Republican groups, the Trump campaign and government agencies at Trump Organization-branded properties since he started his 2016 presidential campaign, a new ProPublica analysis reveals.

ProPublica created an interactive data set that shows how much taxpayer money and campaign money from different groups have gone to properties affiliated with the Trump Organization since President Trump announced his candidacy in 2015. 

According to the report, at least $13.5 million spent at the properties came from the Trump campaign. Other campaigns have spent more than $2.1 million at the properties. And the federal government has spent more than $300,000 at Trump properties.

The information collected is incomplete because some federal agencies have refused to disclose how much they’ve spent at the properties, meaning the total amount spent at the properties is likely more than $16.1 million. {mosads}

Spending at Trump Organization properties has been a point of concern for some Trump critics and ethics watchdogs who say the president is violating the Emoluments Clause every time his hotels or golf courses receive payments from foreign governments because Trump still owns his stake in them. Others say the president has used his position to gain personal wealth.
