CFTC takes to Twitter
The agency has seen its role as a federal regulator grow significantly with the passage of the Dodd-Frank financial reform law giving it oversight of the derivatives market.
It now joins other federal regulators like the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Treasury Department on the microblogging service.
“Through Twitter, the CFTC will be able to quickly and efficiently notify the public about the Commission’s work, upcoming meetings and events, relevant news items and developments in the Commission’s ongoing implementation of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act,” the agency said in its announcement.
