Senate names Wall Street reform conferees

The Senate on Tuesday named a dozen conferees to final negotiations with the House on the 1,500-page Wall Street overhaul legislation.

Seven Democrats and five Republicans will be representing the Senate side of the conference charged with reconciling legislative differences between the two chambers. House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank (D-Mass.) will serve as chairman of the conference negotiations, which Democrats aim to complete before the July Fourth recess.

Senate Banking Committee Chairman Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) will be joined by committee members Sens. Tim Johnson (D-S.D.), Jack Reed (D-R.I.), Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.), Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), Bob Corker (R-Tenn.), Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) and Judd Gregg (R-N.H.).


{mosads}Senate Agriculture Committee Chairwoman Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark.) will be joined by panel members Sens. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) and Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.). The agriculture committee oversaw drafting of new regulations for the multitrillion-dollar derivatives market.

The House has yet to name its conferees.
