Obama budget pushes healthcare reform implementation
H.R. 1, which would keep the government running past March 4, strips away funding for the White House Office of Health Reform and IRS enforcement of the law’s requirement for individuals to purchase insurance. The resolution would also roll back funding for preventive services and community health centers.
Republicans are being pressured by some Tea Party groups to meet their promise to defund their reform law at the risk of a government shutdown.
With a possible budget showdown looming over healthcare reform funds, Berwick said that much of the overhaul’s implementation occurs throughout different agencies.
“All of the agencies have features of the Affordable Care Act that impact their budgets,” Berwick said.
