HHS budget testimony unveiled

Sebelius’ testimony will also highlight how “the Budget also stretches existing resources through better targeting.”

This includes:

• Redirecting and increasing Centers for Disease Control and Prevention funding to reduce chronic disease.

“Rather than splitting funding and making separate grants for heart disease, diabetes, and other chronic diseases, the Budget proposes one comprehensive grant that will allow States to address chronic disease more effectively,” Sebelius’ written testimony says.

The budget also redirects prevention resources in the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration to fund “evidence-based interventions and better respond to evolving needs.”
