GOP lawmaker: I was almost aborted

{mosads}Republican lawmakers have pressed their opposition to abortion rights in recent weeks during the murder trial of Philadelphia abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell.

Gosnell is accused of killing one woman and several infants born alive after failed abortion procedures. He ran a squalid clinic that a criminal grand jury report compared to a “baby charnel house.”

Supporters of abortion rights have denounced Gosnell as an anomaly and a product of unnecessarily strict abortion regulations.

Stutzman said he learned of his mother’s initial plan to end her pregnancy after the two discussed the Gosnell case.

“As we talked about her fear of driving 40 miles alone, I had to think, ‘What if a ‘Gosnell’ clinic was only four miles away instead of 40?'” Stutzman wrote.
