Ryan compares Medicare overhaul to prescription drug plan

Still, Democrats on Tuesday were eager to tie Ryan’s Medicare plan to a voucher system, which they say would leave seniors on the hook for more of their healthcare costs.

“Ryan’s Medicare voucher plan is set up to slash benefits for retirees and people with disabilities,” said Rep. Sandy Levin (Mich.), top Democrat on Ways and Means. “And there’s no way he can spin his way out of that disastrous web.”

Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) said Democrats would go on the attack against Ryan’s Medicare plan.

“They’re going to want to slap a bumper stick on it that will scare people, but we’re trying to have the adult conversation,” Chaffetz told The Hill. “If they have a better plan or suggestion, offer it.”
