House passes anti-abortion bill
{mosads}“Over and over again, we repeat the premise that somehow we’re using government funds through the Affordable Care Act for abortion. We are not,” Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) said.
Democrats also chided Republicans for bringing to the floor a bill that does not even purport to create jobs, and said the bill is an affront to women’s constitutional rights.
“This legislation is an extreme and mean-spirited way to roll back women’s rights,” Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.) said.
A similar anti-abortion measured, passed by the House this spring, has not come up for a vote in the Senate.
