Insurer predicts ObamaCare enrollment will be extended

One of the nation’s largest health insurers on Wedesday said it expects the Obama administration will extend the enrolllment period for ObamaCare.

“Our assumption is that there will be an extension to the open enrollment period,” Humana Chief Operating Officer Jim Murray said during a call with investors to discuss quarterly results, according to Reuters.

Murray also said Humana also has cut its enrollment forecast for ObamaCare in half after recieving guidance from “government entities.”

A number of Senate Democrats, including some up for reelection in 2014, have pushed the White House to extend the enrollment period due to the technical problems plaguing HealthCare.Gov.

But at her hearing on Wednesday before the Senate Finance Committee, Sebelius firmly said extending the enrollment period is “not an option.”

The HHS says it’s committed to repairing the website by Nov. 30. Secretary Kathleen Sebelius has now testified before Congress twice in the last week.
