GOP-led states embrace ObamaCare ‘fix’

Insurance commissioners in many Republican-led states are allowing insurance companies to continue offering plans that otherwise would have been canceled under ObamaCare for another year, The Wall Street Journal reported.

{mosads}The paper found that at least 21 of 30 GOP-led states are embracing the “fix” proposed by President Obama, which allows insures to offer canceled plans for an additional year to people who already held them. Democratic-led states are divided, meanwhile, with at least 10 turning down the opportunity, and nine agreeing to Obama’s plan.

The White House floated the idea in mid-November in response to a political backlash over individual policies that are being canceled as a result of the healthcare law. Obama had promised multiple times that people who liked their coverage could keep it under the reform.
