Obama summons tech giants to talk healthcare
President Obama will meet with executives from some of the country’s biggest technology companies on Tuesday about IT issues surrounding HealthCare.gov.
{mosads}Google Chairman Eric Schmidt, Apple CEO Tim Cook, Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg, Twitter CEO Dick Costolo, Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer and representatives from 10 other companies will be in attendance.
A White House official said the parties would discuss “progress made in addressing performance and capacity issues with HealthCare.Gov and how government can better deliver IT to maximize innovation, efficiency and customer service.”
The retail side of HealthCare.gov is running smoother for most consumers, but the site continues to be plagued by back-end issues that have left the administration only a small window for fixes ahead of some critical upcoming deadlines.
In addition, Republicans are spotlighting potential security flaws that they say are putting sensitive consumer information at risk.
