The fight over ObamaCare produced a raft of memorable quotes in 2013.

The Hill pulled together the 10 most memorable ObamaCare quotes of the year, presented in chronological order:
 
“I don’t want to pay for a sex-change operation … I’m not interested. I like being a boy.” – Rep. Paul Broun (R-Ga), Apr. 8
 
Broun was referring to incorrect reports that ObamaCare insurance plans cover sex change procedures.
 
“I think that probably no one fully anticipated when you have a law that phases in over time how much confusion that creates for a lot of people.” – Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, April 8
 
Opponents of healthcare reform seized on Sebelius’s admission, which would prove prescient in October when HealthCare.gov crashed and burned.
 
“I think we paid a terrible price for health care. I would not have pushed it as hard.” — Former Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.), April 16
 
The former lawmaker’s candid assessment could hit home in 2014, when Democrats fear ObamaCare could cost them the Senate.

Baucus, the primary architect of the healthcare law, now contends that his ObamaCare comment was taken out of context. But Republicans have made it a fixture of their messaging against the law.

In September, Cruz sought to defund ObamaCare by hitting the Senate floor for a 21-hour speech to delay a continuing resolution that would keep the government open. The Tea Party favorite took a few minutes to read Dr. Seuss’ children’s classic “Green Eggs and Ham” to his two young daughters, who were watching from home.
 
“We’re not going to be disrespected. We have to get something out of this, and I don’t know what that even is.” – Rep. Marlin Stutzman (R-Ind.), Oct. 2
 
Stutzman’s remark crystallized the confusion in the GOP over the party’s failed strategy to defund ObamaCare by shutting down the government.

Obama’s promise that if you liked your healthcare plan, you’d be able to keep it was a key talking point for Democrats during the debate over the healthcare law. It quickly proved false, and along with the poorly functioning website, was one of the biggest political problems for the Obama administration in 2013.
