Vice President Biden on Monday visited a Washington, D.C. enrollment center to encourage consumers to sign up for ObamaCare before time runs out a midnight.
{mosads}The vice president told people lined up at the charter school that “healthcare is complicated” but encouraged them not to get “intimidated.”
“Don’t be intimidated by this. This is a little complicated. But guess what? Everybody is going to be better off for it,” Biden said.
The vice president said it was particularly important for younger people to consider enrolling in the plans.
“If you are not willing to give yourself peace of mind, give your Mom peace of mind,” he said.
Biden said that 1.2 million people had visited HealthCare.Gov by noon on Monday, and encouraged anyone interested to start their applications so they could complete them later on.
“It’s kind of like voting. Since you are in line your vote gets counted,” Biden said.
The vice president’s appearance came after he taped an interview with Rachel Ray that aired earlier in the day. During that interview, Biden predicted that Americans would be “surprised” by how well the implementation of the healthcare law turned out, despite the rocky rollout.
“I think everyone is going to be surprised and pleased at how this has turned out,” he said.
President Obama notably did not make any public appearance on the final day of the enrollment push.
But Obama, and first lady Michelle Obama, tweeted personally from their official White House accounts on Monday.
