Dem: ‘Probably a good thing’ Sebelius is out

A Democratic senator said Sunday that it’s “probably a good thing” that Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius is on her way out.

{mosads}In an interview with “Fox News Sunday,” Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (R.I.) praised Sebelius for her six years at HHS, but suggested a “new face” would benefit the healthcare rollout.

“She gave a lot of good service to the president and to the country,” Whitehouse said.

“She was there nearly six years in an extremely tough job, at a very consequential time through the whole healthcare bill, through the rollout with all its malfunctions. I think it probably is a good thing to have a new face going forward.”

He added that President Obama’s new HHS nominee, White House budget director Sylvia Matthews Burwell, is a “very good choice” and will bring a “strong set of credentials” to the role.
