A new poll shows a majority opposes letting private companies opt out of ObamaCare’s birth control mandate on religious grounds, on the eve of the Supreme Court ruling on the controversial issue.
The poll from Reuters/Ipsos released on Sunday shows 53 percent say employers don’t have the right to prevent certain forms of contraception from being covered in insurance plans.
{mosads}Thirty-five percent, though, say employers should be able to limit coverage of healthcare that opposes their beliefs.
Twelve percent of respondents were undecided.
The poll comes on the heels of the high court Burwell v. Hobby Lobby. The arts and crafts retailer is challenging the ObamaCare mandate that large, private employers provide comprehensive contraception coverage to all employees, claiming it violates their religious beliefs.
The court ruling will be a critical marker of the limits of religious freedom and is the Supreme Court’s second high-profile ruling on President Obama’s healthcare reform law.
