Workers worried about being dumped on O-Care plans, poll finds

Workers worry their bosses will move them over to insurance plans under ObamaCare instead of keeping them on employer-provided insurance, according to a new poll.

{mosads}A study by the Morning Consult found 63 percent of workers are worried they will be pushed off their employer-provided health insurance plans and onto the federal marketplaces.

Thirty-eight percent of respondents said they were not concerned or just a little concerned that would happen.

Earlier this summer, a study predicted many major employers would move workers off their health insurance plans and onto the healthcare exchanges under the Affordable Care Act because it would mean huge savings.

According to the report by S&P Capital IQ, the move could save the companies $700 billion by 2025.

However, the Obama administration has been taking steps to stop companies from dumping their workers onto the new exchanges, saying employers wouldn’t be getting the same tax benefits if they did so.

The IRS issued a warning in May telling employers they are not permitted under ACA rules to provide tax-free money to employees to help them cover the cost of healthcare premiums on the federal exchanges.

The Morning Consult poll also found half of workers were worried that being pushed onto the new exchanges would negatively affect their coverage. The other half said it would not have any effect or would have a positive effect.

Fifty-two percent of workers said they would seriously consider changing jobs if they lost their employer-provided health insurance, while 48 percent said they wouldn’t, according to the poll.
