Obama administration touts health law’s Medicare benefits ahead of World Health Day
{mosads}She went on to praise the healthcare law’s investments in new Medicare benefits, which the Supreme Court could strike down and Republicans have vowed to repeal along with the rest of the law.
“With a longer life comes the increased likelihood of disabilities, chronic illnesses or cognitive impairments like Alzheimer’s disease, which may mean growing needs for long-term care and nursing support. That’s why our department is working to make sure Americans and people around the world get the care they need to stay healthy as they age,” Sebelius said. “The Affordable Care Act is making prevention benefits available and prescriptions more affordable for seniors and people with disabilities and will soon ensure that people, of all ages, with pre-existing conditions get coverage.”
Sebelius’s statement, however, makes no mention of the law’s principal investment in long-term care — the so-called CLASS Act, which the administration has put on ice after concluding that it could not find a way to make it solvent.
