More than 100 reportedly under Ebola monitoring

More than 100 people in Ohio are under watch from health officials for Ebola, the Associated Press reported on Saturday.

The AP reported that none of the people being monitored show any symptoms of being sick, but are believed to have been in contact with Amber Vinson, the nurse who was diagnosed with Ebola a day after flying from Cleveland back to Texas.

{mosads}The number of people under watch is a dramatic escalation from previous reports, which claimed that just 16 people were being monitored after having been in contact with Vinson, who contracted Ebola after treating a patient with the virus. She has since been moved to an Emory University health facility.

Officials told the AP that the new number is due to their ability to identify passengers on her flight from Cleveland to Dallas.

New findings from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention showed that Vinson’s case when she took the airplane trip earlier this month may have been more advanced than previously thought.

Her stepfather is reportedly under quarantine in his home outside of Akron, Ohio — the place where Vinson stayed during her visit — but the rest of the people being monitored are not under any similar restrictions, the AP said.
