Window-shopping begins at HealthCare.gov

The online system for picking health plans under ObamaCare opened early to allow consumers five days to window-shop ahead of open enrollment, federal health officials announced.

HealthCare.gov is now available for consumers to compare plans, prices and benefits before Saturday, when health coverage will be available to purchase.

{mosads}The decision to allow window-shopping follows criticism during last year’s botched launch that consumers were unable to browse options without completing a lengthy registration process.

In addition to the uninsured, federal health officials are encouraging current enrollees in the exchanges to study this year’s options in case they can find a better price.

Consumers interested in comparing plans can enter their zip code, the number of people in their family who need health coverage and their income level.
