Google to match Ebola donations
Google announced Monday that it is launching a donor-matching campaign to fight Ebola, on top of its own $25 million pledge for the cause.
The internet giant will double every $1 donation given for Ebola up to $7.5 million, according to its website.
The company’s co-founder and CEO Larry Page will also donate $15 million and the company will donate $10 million.
The donations will be given to one of four nonprofits working in West Africa: Doctors Without Borders, Save The Children, International Rescue Committee and Partners in Health.
The Internet giant also pledged to cover all processing fees.
“Our hearts go out to everyone whose lives have been touched by this tragedy,” the company wrote.
Google’s donations are in keeping with those of other technology companies: a $100 million donation from Microsoft’s Paul Allen and $25 million from Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg.
