Report: New York City doctor clear of Ebola

The 33-year-old New York City doctor who was diagnosed with Ebola will soon be released, The New York Times reported Monday.

Craig Spencer, who volunteered in Guinea with Doctors Without Borders, has received treatment at Bellevue Hospital for 19 days.

He tested positive on Oct. 23, about a week after returning from West Africa, which spread fears across the city of 8.4 million. His diagnosis also sparked a national conversation about whether healthcare workers should be isolated from the public after treating Ebola.

Spencer had been the only U.S. citizen still in treatment for Ebola. Seven other Americans have recovered from the disease.

The Times said plans have been made for his release from the hospital, but did not specify when.
