Bloomberg’s soda ban challenged in court

{mosads}A spokeswoman for the business groups told The Wall Street Journal that the ban sidestepped the proper legislative process.

“This arbitrary ban creates an uneven playing field — seriously harming thousands of small businesses in the city, while leaving others exempt,” she told the Journal. “The ban is riddled with irrational exclusions, loopholes and random classifications that will seriously harm New York City businesses.”

Critics have mocked the large-soda ban as an example of government paternalism, while Bloomberg’s supporters see it as an important step toward fighting obesity.
