Dems offer alternate way to fix ObamaCare’s high-risk pools
{mosads}Both the GOP and Democratic bills would allow the plan to accept new enrollees until next year, when healthcare reform’s major provisions take effect. These include the law’s ban on discrimination against pre-existing health conditions, a provision that will make the PCIP irrelevant.
Pallone’s bill was referred to the Energy and Commerce and Ways and Means Committees. He offered it with Energy and Commerce Ranking Member Henry Waxman (D-Calif.); Reps. Paul Tonko (D-N.Y.), Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.), Gene Green (D-Texas), Bobby Rush (D-Ill.), Doris Matsui (D-Calif.), and Lois Capps (D-Calif.); and Del. Donna Christensen (D-Virgin Islands).
